12/19/2023 0 Comments Prey mooncrash worth it![]() ![]() Each one represents a different character build you might have made during the Prey campaign, like the gifted mentalist who has access to a ridiculous arsenal of powers (such as telekinesis or energy blasts) but limited health, and the security officer who’s good with a gun. While the universal goal for everyone is to escape the moon by any means possible, each character also has a special objective for you to complete. The narrative wrapper requires that you play as all five crewmates. The setup is delightfully odd, a strange structure that wisely puts experimentation with Prey’s enjoyable toolbox of skills and weapons first, even if (once again) the narrative payoff is lacking. Something’s gone wrong on the moon, and he has to find out why by running simulations of five base personnel who made it off the base, then recording that data for Kasma. Peter’s been monitoring TranStar’s secret lunar base. You assume the role of Peter, a hacker working for TranStar’s chief competitor, Kasma Corporation. Mooncrash is a side story, taking place after the base game. The Mooncrash expansion pack remedies most of the base game’s ills and creates the experience I wish I had played last year. However, tedious backtracking and dull combat often muddied Prey’s offerings. I loved exploring the mysterious space station Talos 1 and learning how to bypass obstacles by turning into coffee cups or raising former crewmates to fight my battles. There should be a way to turn off the timer ' maybe playing with a timer could give us more points if we decided to do so.Arkane Studios’ immersive reboot of Prey was entertaining, even if it lurked a little too long in the shadows of Deus Ex and System Shock for its own good. The problem with the timer is that Prey is the type of game that requires planning and exploration and the timer rushes players too much in survival stages that are already hard enough. The timer starts on your second playthrough. There is also a time limit in which the simulation is overloading with Typhon energy and this will eject you from the simulation if you don't escape with each character before time runs out. ![]() Once you start a simulation, the items planted in the areas will remain the same as you go down the character line-up, so if you hog all the items with one character, your other characters won't have as many items available for pickup since they don't respawn in between simulations. ![]() Since the enemy positioning is randomized, you'll never quite know what types of enemies you'll fight in the upcoming areas so planning out your approach based on what items you have is a big factor. The Moon Shark is one of the first of the new enemies that you'll find and it is quite hard to avoid at first. The overall gameplay to Mooncrash is the same as the main story, but the DLC has many added enemies and items. Naturally, you'll lose out on some points for dying, but the point system in the game allows players to gain points from performing certain tasks up until the point before death, which is good since you'll be dying a lot at first. Each character has their own unique stats and starting equipment. There is a total of five characters to choose from that you'll unlock as you progress through the mode. The main objective (besides escaping) is to build-up points by killing Typhon and performing objectives so you'll be able to buy more items for your next character. You get to choose how you escape from the facility or if you escape at all. The general map layout remains the same ' there are four major areas to explore. ![]() The most unique part about the Mooncrash is that the enemies, items, and hazards will change with each playthrough. ![]()
